COURSERA ONLINE COURSE: A PLATFORM FOR ENGLISH TEACHERS’ MEANINGFUL AND VIBRANT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

This paper presents on experienced English teachers’ attitudes towards a professional development program run by Coursera (coursera.org). The writer used case study by spreading questionnaire consists of 15 items and was conducted online using a free survey tool called Survey Monkey. The teachers attitudes here were investigated based on five evaluative elements; (1) participants reaction, (2) participant professional learning, (3) participant use of new skills, (4) organizational culture, and (5) student learning outcomes. Then the findings presents most of the participants showed positive attitudes towards the content and nature of TPD (Teacher Professional Development) programs. Also presents on three crucial elements of TPD; relevancy to professional needs, sufficient learning time, and content. This paper is quite good to be read since it has clear explanation.
